Prior to opening Salt Salon in 2023, Amanda had been working in the hair industry for just over 13 years beginning in 2010 as an apprentice at a high-end hair salon on the seacoast where she earned her license and spent nine years honing her skills. The last four years she worked for herself as a booth renter in Portsmouth NH. Amanda has spent countless hours continuing education by attending style specific cutting courses, styling classes, as well as multiple Goldwell classes to stay up to date on the latest styling techniques and color formulations. In addition to her skills with the shears, Amanda also specializes in Blonding, Custom Color Formulation, and Updos. Amanda grew up in Portsmouth NH, graduating from Portsmouth Highschool in 2002. When Amanda isn’t at the salon, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, two dogs, and cat, often heading up north to spend time enjoying nature.
Salt Salon operates as a hybrid salon. Our team consists of both Independent stylists who lease a space in our salon, as well as commission stylists who are employees of the salon continuing their education and working towards becoming a senior stylist. While we operate with this hybrid approach, we all work together as a team to be sure that in the end, every single client leaving our salon has had the best experience possible. Junior Stylist: New to the industry having recently graduated school and completed at least two months as a full-time assistant to a senior stylist. All of their work will be checked before your departure to ensure it meets our standards.
Level 1:Successfully completed new talent training. Continued guidance by senior stylist to ensure client satisfaction.
Level 2: At least 6 months behind the chair with little oversight needed.
Level 3: Have reached significant education and career milestones.
Level 4: High Demand. Mentor to our Assistants and Level 1 stylists.
Level 5: Precise in their craft. Mentor to our Assistants and Level 1 stylists.

While Independent, they are still as much a part of our salon family as our employed stylists. We do not rent our space to just anyone. We have a thorough vetting process to be sure their values and work ethic align with our core values.
- Level 2 Stylist - Meet Jackie Hayes, an energetic hair designer with a passion for creativity. My journey started with a Paul Mitchell education, graduating from their program in August of 2024, and has led me to Salt Salon, where I bring unique looks to life for my clients. I'm always on the hunt for inspiration, which is why you'll often find me jamming out at music festivals or Phish shows. My bohemian spirit is reflected in my work, and I recently had the honor of working on runway hair at Fashion Week in NYC - an experience that left me feeling totally inspired. I love pushing boundaries and trying new things, so if you're looking for a fresh and innovative look, I'm your girl!
-Level 1 Stylist - I graduated from cosmetology school in July 2024, which marked the beginning of my professional journey in the beauty industry. My strong determination and commitment to personal growth led me to join the Salt Salon team in March 2025. In my role as an assistant, I have dedicated myself to honing my skills and absorbing invaluable knowledge from the talented professionals around me. Driven by a genuine passion for providing exceptional service, I continually strive for improvement in my craft. I am devoted to contributing to our team's overall success while serving our clients with the highest level of dedication. Now that I am transitioning into my new role as a Junior Stylist, I eagerly anticipate meeting new clients and building lasting relationships with everyone who sits in my chair.
Outside of the salon, I enjoy spending time with friends, surfing at the beach, and relaxing at home with my partner and our two kittens.

- Level 2 Stylist - HI! I’m Tavehi (Ta-Veh-Hee), a licensed stylist and 2025 graduate of Empire Beauty School. Born and raised on Maui, I moved to New Hampshire two years ago and have been determined to keep growing my craft while building genuine connections with my clients. I enjoy working with natural texture, lived-in blondes, reds, and fun colors, and was honored to be nominated as a Top 100 Student in the One Shot Awards. Outside the salon, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, crocheting, exploring coffee shops, and going to concerts
- Independent Stylist - I have been in the hair industry for 8+ years! I recently moved from Los Angeles where I had spent 5 years building up my clientele. While I was there; I prioritized learning as an assistant at a celebrity salon in Beverly Hills where I specialized in color, danced my way through blowouts with my wonderful clients at Drybar, and my personal favorite, taking house calls all across the country! I always knew my dream was to work at a salon in a small town with clients who felt like family, so I could not be happier to have my new salon home in beautiful Portsmouth building just that, while being surrounded by those I love most! When I’m not at the salon you will most likely find me hiking, floating in the ocean, reading, spending time with God, or surrounded by family! I can not wait to meet all the wonderful faces of Portsmouth! :)
- Independent Stylist - Catherine (Cat) Marggraf is an accomplished stylist with over 10 years of experience in the beauty industry. Having shown a passion for all things hair at a young age, practicing braiding and styling on all her dolls, it was only natural for Cat to end up in the hair industry. Cat truly enjoys being involved in all of life’s big moments such as weddings, proms, special events, etc. and is honored to provide her skills and refreshing presence to all occasions. Cat is a colorist at heart who specializes in custom color, lived-in blonding, and color correction. When Cat isn’t in the lab mixing color, you can find her sewing in custom weft extensions, styling updos, and cutting all types of hair. When she’s not doing hair, Cat enjoys spending time with family, crafting, crocheting, going to the beach, and playing with her dog Hank!
- Independent Stylist - After graduating from cosmetology school in 2014 Gina apprenticed at Marc Harris Salon in Boston, learning from Goldwell certified stylists. Her dedication to color theory and the science of hair extends beyond work hours, often studying new techniques and hair trends. Beyond hairstyling, Gina finds joy in live music, art museums, trying new recipes, watching old movies, and yoga
-Independent Stylist- Kiley got her start in the hair industry beginning in 2020. She quickly became well versed in many different techniques and continues to further her education to keep her skills up to date so that she may offer her clients the exceptional experience they have come to expect from her. Kiley specializes in High Impact Blondes, and Sewn-in Weft Extensions. She also enjoys doing Low Maintenance Foliages Dimensional Colors, Rich Brunettes and Conditioning Treatments. Kiley strives to provide a comfortable and fun environment for her clients, creating amazing hair while keeping the health of your hair the highest priority. she truly enjoys making strong connections with everyone who sits in her chair and looks forward to meeting you!
